Iverson hits the open market

Now paging Ed Stefanski. There are sure to be a few calls from area fans to the Sixers general manager, as Allen Iverson officially becomes a free agent.

The former MVP cleared waivers Thursday and is looking for a new home. Iverson was waived Tuesday by the Memphis Grizzlies and no one claimed him within 48 hours.

Iverson was unhappy coming off the bench in three games with Memphis, something he also complained openly about last season as a member of the Detroit Pistons.

The Knicks are reportedly interested in Iverson.

“There’s a lot of organizational stuff we’ll talk about and see if it makes sense,” Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni said.
