Playoff predictions gone wrong

Now that the NFL season is officially over, it’s time for us to hang our heads in shame. We made some bold predictions back in January — nearly all of them were wrong. Here are some predictions we’d like to have back:

1 The Cowboys would hold the world’s largest Super Bowl party in Jerry World — This pick looked really good after the Cowboys torched the Eagles in the wild-card round. Dallas’ offensive line, though, forgot how to block in the divisional matchup against Jared Allen and Minnesota. Hey, look on the bright side, at least it wasn’t all Tony Romo’s fault this time.

2 Brett Favre wouldn’t win a playoff game — This time, he waited until the championship round before chucking one of his trademark, game-changing interceptions. We figured he’d do it in the divisional round.

3 The Chargers wouldn’t choke — What were we thinking when we anointed Norv Turner a genius and the Chargers AFC champions? Turner is the same slack-jawed bum that was chased out of Washington. And San Diego has him for three more years.

4 Tom Brady would actually be Tom Brady — We thought the Patriots’ postseason would last until the AFC championship. It ended up lasting about seven minutes. Blame the Ravens’ wild-card rout of the Pats on Brady’s bad knee, but we’ll trace it back even further. He should have never dumped Bridget Moynahan for Gisele.

The Jets would be one and done — A rookie quarterback and a rookie head coach on the road in every round of the playoffs? Yeah, we took the home team. Mark Sanchez, though, held his own making some clutch passes, even against the Colts. But let’s be honest, with that offensive line, the Jets probably still advance to the AFC title game with Kellen Clemens under center.
